Lunarpages Review: My First Web Host.
February 22, 2008
Choosing your first web host can be a difficult decision, especially if you are cost conscious and looking for a good deal. A search for “best web host” returns nothing but web sites marketing companies that you’ve barely heard of, and horror stories about terrible service and crashing web servers.
I chose lunarpages for my first web host and I’m happy to say that it is a decision I don’t regret. I had narrowed my list down to Yahoo (a name I trust), Hostgator (a host that received a lot of recommendations from a web masters forum) and lunarpages (also a host I heard about on a webmasters forum). Back then cost was a major issue and most deals required a 12 month contract so I ended up choosing between lunarpages and Hostgator. I read good things about both hosts but the excellent pre-sales service I received on lunarpages forum sealed the deal.
Lunarpages highlights “reliable web hosting and great customer service” on their homepage, and in my experience they live up to this claim. Even though I have worked with computers for years, I was initially confused by some of the cPanel options. cPanel is a web based interface, designed to make administration of websites easy and is used by many hosting providers. Support was quick to help me get everything set up correctly, and I can honestly say I have not needed to contact them again in my first 9 months of service. I haven’t experienced an outage (at least one that I am aware of) and my first 9 months have been smooth sailing.
Since I signed up lunarpages has improved their basic hosting plan to include 1,500 Gigs Storage, 15,000 Gigs Data Transfer and unlimited add-on domains. This is a great deal for $6.95 per month and you get a free domain for life! If you are in the market for reliable basic hosting at a great price be sure to add lunarpages to your shortlist.

GoDaddy Hosting - An Honest Review
February 7, 2008
I stumbled across GoDaddy several years ago on accident, as I was searching for a company that offered domain names, hosting, and web design under one roof. If I recall correctly, it was probably after one of their highly controversial Super Bowl ads (great advertising, it was!). Since that time, I’ve used GoDaddy almost exclusively for all of my website projects, and for good reason.
GoDaddy Customer Service Is Top Priority
While some may argue that they’ve had terrible experiences with GoDaddy hosting, I couldn’t disagree more with them. Using their Deluxe Hosting packages for years now, I can’t recall one instance where I was put off by one of their customer service representatives, or even tech support. I always had prompt resolution of problems, and quick solutions to any questions or concerns I had. Yeah, I may have waited on hold a few times for what some would consider too long, but GoDaddy serves an incredible amount of customers, so I don’t mind waiting as long as someone is on the other end ready to make me happy. It’s a pretty fair trade off if you ask me!
Product Selection
Whether you’re just an individual who needs simple, affordable hosting for your site, all the way up to large companies who need enterprise level solutions – GoDaddy can accommodate your needs. If memory serves me right, GoDaddy offers at least nine different hosting plans, which range from shared hosting all the way up to dedicated servers, and of course everything in between. Again, over the years I’ve used the Deluxe Shared hosting for most of my website needs, and it’s served me very well. I can’t remember the last time one of my websites was down, and their proprietary interface is quite easy to understand and work with, even for a total novice. GoDaddy offers ample amounts of bandwidth and server space, and if you ever find yourself needing more (which can only mean good things anyway), then you can always add on for a reasonable price.
Prices Are Just Right
Now, GoDaddy is not the cheapest hosting around, and it’s also not the most expensive either. Personally, I think they have ideal price points, especially for the solid hosting platform they offer. I pay $6.99 per month for my hosting package, and while I could probably get the same specs for $3.00 a month somewhere else – what you won’t get with the smaller inexpensive hosting companies is the piece of mind knowing that your sites won’t go down once a week. I will always pay a bit more if it means almost zero downtime, and more reliable servers – not to mention the huge name behind it.
In conclusion, I would recommend GoDaddy hosting to anyone that needs solid solutions for their personal, business, or company websites. Like other companies of GoDaddy’s size, there will always be a few negative people who are against the big guys, but that’s to be expected. Don’t let the voice of a few sour apples ruin what truly is an honest and solid hosting company who will be a major player in the website solutions game for years to come.
Rackspace review
November 22, 2007
I have had a hosting account with rackspace.com for two years now and there is one thing I can confirm: Their customer support is truly fanatic. Each and every time I asked the support team about an issue, the response was not only fast – It was helpful. In the past I have hosted my web sites with various other web hosting companies and one should never underestimate how unfriendly and incompetent a web host can be. No longer am I victim to bad support and I will never go back to these hosts just for the sake of saving a few dollars per month. How many hosting companies do you know that offer to refund 5% of your monthly bill for each and every half hour your server is down? They truly live up to their promise of being fanatically dedicated to support. What I like best is that my account manager calls me up from time to time in order to see whether things are working smoothly and provides me with improvement suggestions for my business. One time I messed up some of the config files of my server and started to panic – By calling up the support center they were able to sort out the issue within minutes. Experiences such as this one are the ones that leave a lasting and positive impression on me.
It is true that their pricing is a bit more expensive than the competition but I firmly believe in the motto that you get what you are paying for. Given the friendliness and knowledge of the staff I am more than willing to spend a bit more to receive the attention I crave from a web hosting company.
In case you are currently looking for a web host, I strongly suggest that you give rackspace.com a try. I have had nothing but good experiences and do recommend this host to every one that is in need of a company that sells peace of mind.

Hostgator Review
November 18, 2007
To tell the truth I had been looking for more than 2 weeks for a hosting company which would provide me uptime and a lot of bandwidth for a cheap price. I firstly tried 2 of my friends hosts but they were slow and that wasn’t what I was looking for. I had learnt from a friend that I should stay away from big companies as they are overselling. I was going to open a new business and I really needed a perfect hosting which would give me 100 % uptime and a lot of space and bandwidth for a cheap price
I then gave a try to HostGator which so far is one of the best alternatives I have ever found.
I created an account with them and my hosting was up within 12 minutes. Actually I had a problem with my Wordpress which was not related to my Hosting and I asked their Live support and they helped me out even if it was not their fault or anything related with their hosting
Many customers say that HostGator and other big companies are overselling but so far I have never had any single problem with them and among every other thing , they are really cheap (comparing to the quality they are offering and their services)
To tell the truth HostGator so far has offered me a great support for all my problems and they have solved them within an hour.
What I appreciate most at HostGator is the perfect live support and the uptime. Whenever you have any problem (even if its not related to hosting ) you can kindly ask them.
Another great offer that HostGator is offering are the different coupons. You can use those coupons and the price will be halved. Make sure you find a working coupon when (or if) you decide to sign up with HostGator, there are some below to help you save money.
I have had a great uptime since my hosting was created (I can say I never had a downtime) so I hope this will continue for a while.
Trust me if you are looking for a good hosting where you can host all your businesses then HostGator is the right choice.
Here you have some promo coupons which you can use to get some discounts :

Hostgator Coupon Code : TOPHOST
Hostgator Coupon Code : HGC25

Awardspace review
November 18, 2007
Awardspace is a very popular host for both paying people and those who appreciate free hosting. Though a bit more technical in comparison to other hosting websites, as long as you don’t mind experimenting with the control panel, you should get used to its interface rather quickly. Awardspace is also one of few hosts of it’s time that keep to their word, offering all they say they are going to offer, no questions asked.
My personal experience with Awardspace has been an enjoyable one. I’ve had four sites hosted there for two years now just on one account, with hardly any problems at all. One of the best features of this host has to be the Customer Service. You actually get an answer back to a problem within 24 hours. Another good feature of this site is that it’s been up for a few good years now, and shows no signs of going down like many hosts before them. It’s obvious to see that they know how to manage their money and run an acceptable web business.
The only problems I’ve ever encountered with Awardspace was the inability to log onto my account a few times. My sites remained up and running, but I couldn’t get into the control panel to edit them. I ended up looking to Support for answers, which they were quick to supply. The problem as a whole only lasted for about a day or two before it was fixed. Also, Awardspace’s control panel can be rather odd. It works perfectly fine, but you need to go through at least 3 separate sections before you can get to the area where you can edit your website. It’s terribly confusing for a beginner at website making in general, so I recommend having at least a bit of experience before trying this host.
Otherwise, I really like Awardspace and all it has to offer. They give you 200 MB Disk Space and 5 GB for a free plan, but the paid hosting is what really makes this company shine. For only $4.99 a month, you can receive 10 GB Disk Space and 100 GB Disk Space. If you need even more, the highest plan at $9.99 a month would give you 30 GB Disk Space and 300 GB Bandwidth. Pricing is very reasonable, and the best part is that if you pay for one of these plans, they put you on an extremely fast server with unlimited subdomains, plenty of MySQL Databases, and every other possible quality you might enjoy in a host.
Awardspace is a winner in my opinion. You can give them a try simply with the free hosting alone, and if you enjoy their service, I definitely recommend upgrading your account to a paid plan. You won’t be disappointed with the cheap prices, the great support, or the different features they add to make your stay with them memorable.

Westnic user reviews
October 21, 2007
I am currently hosting many sites with Westnic.net and I hope to start and host more in the future. I am not associated with westnic in any way. I am their customer and I am really happy with everything they offer. Their hosting features are super cool and so is their customer service. I have a shared account with them. Initially, I had a reseller account with them. I decided to downgrade as I was not able to make use of the reseller account properly. Webhosting is a very competitive niche.
Westnic has been around since 2002. However, I couldn’t find any reviews on the Internet before I tried them. They have over 12,000 or so customers. When compared with other companies, I believe westnic is a small player, but nevertheless their service is at par or even better than most big hosts. When web hosting companies grow big and bigger, they seem to care about everything except for customer services. However, the customer service at westnic seems pretty much okay to me.
All customer requests at westnic are done through the ticket system. If the request is very urgent, you can also make use of the live chat system. Usually, tickets are answered very fast. I opened up a new ticket, and it was answered within 2 minutes. I was really amazed at this! However, if tickets are opened at the wrong time, they may take some time to be cleared. However, all the tickets I opened were solved very soon.
One feature I loved very much about westnic is that they seem to care a lot your search engine optimization efforts. If you have multiple websites and want to interlink all of them, having all the sites on the same ip address may raise flags. In such cases, you can request different ips for each of the sites. These ips may or may not be dedicated, but will help. Westnic also provides you with class-c ips. Till now, I have not come across any other webhost which does this. Most of them will charge money for dedicated ip addresses. In addition, even the shared accounts come with whm. It gives you the ability to create separate cpanel accounts for your domains.
I hope to stay with westnic for a long time to come. And I hope they provide the same services and maintain the same level of professionalism for a long time to come.
